The Tempest

by Georgina M. Coates

At a glance, she seems calm

Tranquil, peaceful, placid

Nothing short of serene

But only the naive judge based on the surface alone

For she could at anytime become

A force more powerful than you’ve ever seen

The water could swell up and the waves could rise up

To drown any hapless swimmers in their path

For as the old rhyme goes

“Life is but a dream”
